The Plymouth House is a behavioral health treatment center located in the town of Plymouth, New Hampshire. They assist both male and female clients in their struggles with sobriety. The facility provides a residential treatment program based on the 12-steps that aim to provide rehabilitation to substance abuse victims suffering from alcohol or chemical dependency.

Plymouth House does not provide outpatient services and expects a minimum inpatient commitment of 2 weeks from all incoming patients at its campus. The programs are highly influenced by the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. They expect every client to fully read the book and incorporate the 12 steps diligently in their daily lives to better facilitate their recovery.

The facilities at Plymouth House is situated in a sprawling campus spread over 20 acres. The setting resembles that of an exclusive boarding school surrounded by woods and well-maintained grounds. The campus exudes a tranquil air allowing residents the peace of mind to recover at their own pace without any external worries.

The residential quarters at the facility accommodates a maximum of 39 residents in gender-specific dormitories. Each bedroom is shared between 2-3 residents and is equipped with an ensuite bathroom and porch. The facility also provides a gym, laundry facilities, a chapel, a yoga studio, and a kitchen. The cafeteria-style kitchen is housed in a barn and serves 3 nutritious meals a day comprising of an optional breakfast, a compulsory lunch and dinner.

So, in order to continue with their stellar work in providing high-quality service they do not accept any insurance and only accept payment through self-pay. As that would entail them being compelled to introduce treatment modalities that are covered by insurance companies. This would compromise the integrity of their programs.

Jay Cuthbert
Extended Care Director

Jay Cuthbert first joined the Plymouth House in 2005 as program staff, a position he occupied till March 2008. He assumed the responsibility of Extended Care Coordinator at the facility in 2011. Since then he has been in charge of overseeing the maintenance of a high quality of program delivery, staff competence and the betterment of the overall experience of stay at the center. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.


Matthew Howe
Program Director

Matt Howe was an alumnus of Plymouth House and is currently associated with the facility as a Program Director. He believes that outdoor activities were a big part of his own rehabilitation. Consequently, he hopes to integrate the surroundings and location of the facility into the treatment programs offered there. He is a graduate of Berkeley School of Music and Plymouth State University.


James Bradley
Family and Community Outreach Coordinator

James Bradley is associated with The Plymouth House as a Family and Community Outreach Coordinator having joined the staff in January 2018. He is in charge of hosting events and raising awareness amongst community and family members in order to sensitize them towards the problems of substance abuse. He specializes in community outreach, crisis intervention, and has a demonstrated history of working in the field of mental health care.
