Boca Recovery Center is a substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health treatment center in South Florida. The facility is licensed and accredited by The Department of Children and Families and The Joint Commission providing medical and clinical treatment to adults seeking a safe, medical detox and clinical treatment at the residential level of care. Boca Recovery Center is staffed 24/7 by medical professionals and provides individual and group psychotherapy sessions seven days per week to clients seeking recovery from their addiction.

Overview and History of Boca Recovery Center

Boca Recovery Center was founded in 2016 by a New Jersey native who came to Florida after struggling with his history of addiction. Born out of a desire to provide the highest quality treatment in comfortable surroundings, Boca Recovery Center began as a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Program with housing in beautiful Boca Raton, Florida. In 2019, Boca Recovery Center expanded into its first Medical Detoxification and Residential Treatment Program in Pompano Beach, Florida. By 2021, the company expanded with a Medical Detox and Residential facility in Galloway, New Jersey, to meet a growing need for treatment in this location. With a significant spike in opioid and other substance use disorders around the United States, Boca Recovery Center narrowed its treatment focus to detoxification and residential treatment. It recently acquired its third location in Bloomington, Indiana. Boca Recovery Center provides excellence in medical and clinical care to individuals struggling with alcohol or drug addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders in a safe environment, staffed by highly qualified professionals who are established in the field of addictions and mental health.

Housing and Food at Boca Recovery Center

Boca Recovery Center is appointed with all the comforts necessary for safe and comfortable detoxification and clinical treatment experience. Rehab has a commercial kitchen and catering to provide freshly made meals and snacks available at all times. Each bedroom offers DirecTV and Netflix, and our housekeeping staff manages all laundry. Each bedroom is spacious and equipped with closet space and drawers for clothing, and personal and valuable items are stored away for safekeeping.

On the facility’s first floor, our Detoxification level of care offers 11 bedrooms, with two beds per room. The Residential Level of care houses another ten bedrooms on the first floor, with two beds per room. Private rooms are also available upon request. In addition, the building houses three psychotherapy group rooms, each providing comfortable seating for clients to engage in clinical work and equipped with audio/visual equipment for psychoeducational materials that may be presented in the group.

Smoking is not permitted inside the building. However, a spacious outdoor area includes a gazebo for smoking in the shade and green space for enjoying the fresh air, barbecues, or playing basketball.

The daily clinical schedule incorporates five groups per day during the week and 3-4 hours of a group on the weekend. Adjunct group facilitators provide outstanding psychotherapy groups as an adjunct to our highly trained clinical team. During the evening, outside guest speakers are brought in to offer 12-step meetings, and on the weekends, there are organized recreational activities and events scheduled.

Medical and Psychotherapy Treatment is provided at the Medical Detoxification and Residential levels of care. All psychotherapy services are provided in-house. Clients do not typically leave the facility during their treatment stay unless there is a determined medical or legal need. Any outside appointments are arranged through Case Management services, and the facility provides transportation with an accompanying staff member.

Boca Recovery Center is in-network with Bright Health, Humana, Ambetter, and accepts most other private health insurance plans. Private Pay arrangements are also available.

Boca Recovery Center provides an individualized treatment experience to ensure that you are getting exactly what you need from your stay. Their medical team ensures that you are receiving the best in medication management to ensure that your detoxification experience is as safe and comfortable as possible. Boca Recovery medical staff is available 24 hours, seven days per week. Boca Recovery provides Medication Assisted Treatment and will meet with each client to determine their specific medication needs and goals. In addition, our highly expert clinical therapy staff meet with clients daily at the detox level of care to ensure the client is getting all of their needs met as they embark upon the start of their recovery experience. Our free-standing building offers spacious bedrooms, comfortable living room space, and outdoor areas. The center provides health and fitness amenities for clients at the Residential level of care, including an outdoor basketball half-court, social activities, weekend guest speakers, and social-skill building entertainment.

Dr. Alison Tarlow, Licenced Clinical Psychologist

Alison Tarlow - Chief Clinical Officer
Dr. Alison Tarlow is a Licenced Clinical Psychologist in the States of Florida and Pennsylvania and a Certified Addictions Professional (C.A.P.). She has been a practicing psychologist for over 15 years. She has begun her career as a Postdoctoral Resident at The Renew Center for Eating Disorders, specializing in treating women’s issues, including Post Traumatic Stress, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Addiction. Dr. Tarlow developed a successful private practice in Boca Raton, Florida, and began consulting for treatment centers and programs throughout the South Florida area. Before joining the clinical team at Boca Recovery Center, Dr. Tarlow was the Clinical Director of an organization for three years and was responsible for developing a medical detox facility in Palm Beach and two substance abuse treatment facilities (in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida). In addition, she has specialized training in various evidence-based practices, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (M.A.T.) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (D.B.T.). Dr. Tarlow is also a Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator in the State of Florida and incorporates this experience into her work with clients and their families. Dr. Tarlow has written numerous articles on the topic of substance abuse treatment for Sober World Magazine and has presented at conferences and training events throughout the United States.

Christopher Ferry, Founder/Owner of Boca Recovery Center

Christopher Ferry - Founder.Christopher Ferry is a passionate addiction recovery advocate based in Boca Raton, Florida. Born and raised in Ventnor, New Jersey, his strong desire to help people began early on, and it has stayed with him ever since. Growing up, Christopher loved playing ice hockey and was on the varsity team at St. Augustine Prep School. By 18 years old, he was invited to try out for the U.S.A. National Team Development Program (Team U.S.A.). Shortly afterward, he walked away from ice hockey and began using drugs. Christopher developed an addiction that counted for many years, and his life spiraled out of control. During this time, Christopher served as the Co-founder of a Jacksonville-based insurance franchise called We Insure Florida, from which he had to step down in order to enter treatment for his addiction. Mr. Ferry ultimately entered into drug treatment programs on two occasions, and finally, on February 21, 2013, Christopher found long-term sobriety. As soon as he was able to get sober, Mr. Ferry decided to transform his challenging past into a present triumph by helping others who have gone through similar struggles. Now with many years sober, he is the profound Owner/Founder of Boca Recovery Center. Utilizing his in-depth marketing expertise, he aims to encourage people battling the disease of addiction to find a positive outlet in the form of drug and alcohol treatment. Additionally, Mr. Ferry is Certified National Master Interventionist (C.N.M.I.) and received his certification from the National Association of Drug & Alcohol Interventionists (N.A.D.A.I.) He has also studied marketing and business development extensively. After everything has endured, Christopher has adopted “Never Say Die” (Never Give Up) as his life-long motto. During his free time, Mr. Ferry enjoys attending sporting events. He also has an avid interest in physical fitness. Most importantly, he loves spending quality time with his family and close friends.

Stephanie Morris, RN, Chief Nursing Officer

Stephanie is originally from Boca Raton, FL, where she graduated from Broward College and City College to pursue her passion as a registered nurse. Stephanie has been a director of nursing for the last six years in the mental health and substance abuse field. Prior to that, she was a registered nurse at Baptist Health Bethesda Hospital, where she began building her nursing foundation. She has opened and maintained several dual diagnosis facilities in the South Florida area and understands the unique dynamic between the medical and administrative duties as the Chief Nursing Officer. Some of these duties Stephanie excels in are creating and implementing systems and procedures to comply with the most up-to-date federal and state compliance. Stephanie has demonstrated expertise in overall operations with the medical and nursing components of treatment in both our Florida and New Jersey locations. Stephanie’s approach in providing nursing care continues to be that no matter what the client is here for, WE are here to help. Her goal as Chief Nursing Officer with Boca Recovery Center is to provide a comprehensive, collaborative approach to client-centered care for the best client outcomes.

Dr. Jacqueline Pevny, MD, Medical Director

Dr. Jacqueline Pevny, MD, is the Medical Director of Boca Recovery Center since joining the team in July 2021. Dr. Pevny is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist, Diplomate of Addiction Medicine, Diplomate of Geriatric Psychiatry, and Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. She completed her bachelor’s degree and Medical School at the University of Miami, where she graduated with Honors in 1995. Her medical internship took place at Cornell Medical Center, and her Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Dr. Pevny has years of experience working hands-on with her patients struggling with addiction and mental health problems, and her wealth of knowledge, experience and love for her work is unmatched.
