Silver Hill Hospital for Substance Use Disorder Overview
Silver Hill rehabilitation center is a non-profit psychiatric facility located in New Canaan, Connecticut. The private rehab facility offers intensive treatment for adults, teens, and adolescents, who are suffering from the effects of a substance use disorder. The hospital was established by John Millet in the year 1931 and was initially called Silver Hill inn. From 1971 to date, the focus of treatment shifted, and more emphasis was placed on substance abuse programs. The diversification of medical personnel followed this progress. The facility employed the services of psychologists, psychiatrists, nursing staff, substance abuse counselors, recreational and occupational therapists, and others. The inpatient treatment program was launched in 1985 and offered inpatient care to individuals suffering from acute substance abuse. In 2012 an outpatient program for opioid addiction and other disorders was launched, increasing the number of overall services and levels of care.
Silver Hill Hospital prides itself on its commitment to providing three exceptional levels of medical healthcare: inpatient treatment, transitional living, and outpatient.
The inpatient treatment emphasizes safe detoxification, diagnosis, and medication management. Transitional living hand-holds clients through the process of sober living and carves a path for clients to follow to achieve sobriety and succeed in recovery. The outpatient program provides an alternative for clients who live in their respective homes but desire treatment for substance use disorder. The design enables patients to visit the hospital on schedule for their treatment.
The hospital offers treatment for various physical and mental illnesses ranging from co-occurring psychiatric disorders to other physical addictions.
