Overview of Serenity House
Serenity House Drug, Alcohol, and Substance Abuse Treatment Center was established in 1984. Since then, it has helped over 30,000 people suffering from alcohol and drug addiction. Serenity House is led by a team of individuals who are passionate about helping addicts and to become the leading addiction treatment providers in the Southwest area. The treatment curriculum is based on the 12-step principles and Recovery Dynamics. The center provides a safe, secure and comfortable environment for patients to help them recover from their addiction. Individualized treatment plans are created for each one so that he/she may achieve its maximum benefit. Comprehensive and therapeutic therapies are utilized for the emotional, mental, and physical health of patients. Serenity House offers residential, outpatient, and young adults treatment programs. The center also educates the community about addiction and its negative effects in an effort to prevent it. A Youth Prevention Indicated Program is offered to 9th to 12th graders to reverse the trend of drug use among students. Through this program, the community is involved in fun and healthy activities to promote youthโs self-expression and engage them with each other in the community. Students are empowered with life skills and emotional skills to bring about positive change in their lives.
Housing and Food at Serenity House
The main campus of Serenity House is situated in Abilene, Texas. It is their largest residential facility that offers a home-like environment to its residents. The facility is built and decorated in a modern manner. It can accommodate 20 patients for detox and 88 for residential treatment. Although the facility is co-ed, residentsโ housing is segregated. Each room is shared between two patients. Rooms are furnished with single beds, side tables and dressers for each patient. Each room has two sinks and an attached bathroom which connects to another room. The bathroom is shared among residents of two rooms. All the rooms, common rooms, and meeting rooms are beautifully and comfortably decorated. The facility has a Serenity Reflection Pool and a 12-Step garden. There is also a chapel inside the premises for spiritual services and graduation ceremony. Residents are also provided with fitness and recreation opportunities. Twice a week, they are transported to an off-site health club where they can exercise and indulge in healthy activities. Residents are required to do simple chores during their stay at Serenity House. The facility has a small kitchen where meals are prepared three times a day. Meals are served in the dining hall where all residents eat together.

Serenity House offers a variety of treatment programs for adults suffering from alcoholism, substance abuse, and some co-occurring disorders. Each patient has an individualized treatment plan specifically designed for him/her. The residential treatment usual duration is 4 weeks for which the cost is $12,600. This cost caries for each client since each one has an individualized treatment plan consisting of different therapies and modalities. Serenity House accepts many insurance companies plans as reimbursement for their treatment costs. Cindy Wier is the President at Serenity House. Dick Spalding - President Emeritus
Dick Spalding is the President Emeritus at Serenity House. He has been working in drug and alcohol treatment for more than 30 years. He brings with him an extensive amount of experience in the process of offering recovery to patients. He encourages people suffering from alcohol and drug addiction to take personal responsibility on this road to healing and to take complete ownership of the lifelong recovery process. Only then will they be able to achieve sobriety throughout their life and prevent relapse.
