WestCare California has been providing treatment services to individuals for over 40 years. People suffering from substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and mental health issues are treated in the various programs offered at WestCare California. The mission at WestCare California is to empower everyone who comes at the facility and engage them in the process of healing and recovery to promote wellness of individuals, families, and communities. Their philosophy of uplifting the human spirit is materialized through improving and expanding the quality services that the center offers in order to make patients realize their dreams in an addiction-free life. The center offers residential treatment, outpatient, intervention, and education for prevention. The treatment programs are designed to serve adults, families, veterans, and the LGBT community. Evidence-based therapies and activities are used as part of treatment including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, art therapy, and more. The licensed and trained staff at WestCare California adhere to the core values of Excellence, Dedication, Growth, and Ethics while providing their services. WestCare California also offers a number of criminal justice programs that provide case management services for substance-abusing parolees through placement and referral to community treatment services. Patients are taught emotional, coping, and life skills to help them transition back to the community successfully.

Housing and Food at WestCare California

WestCare California offers a number of treatment programs but its main residential facility is the Martin Luther King Campus. It offers a safe and private environment to its residents where they can start their healing and recovery journey. The campus covers a large area of land where the facility is built as a complex of buildings. Each building houses a different treatment program. Client’s residential units are segregated based on gender. Dorm-style living spaces are provided for residents which include beds, drawers, and storage space for each one. Bathrooms are also dorm-style with multiple stalls and showers. There are common rooms for each unit where residents can relax and bond with each other during their free time. Other rooms in the units include therapy rooms, meeting rooms, counseling rooms, and others. There are courtyards outside the units with wooden benches where residents can enjoy the weather and sunshine. There is also a beautiful community garden which offers gorgeous and peaceful scenery to the residents. Meals are prepared by the kitchen staff and served in each unit’s cafeteria. Residents gather together at the cafeteria three times a day to dine together. The kitchen staff also accommodates special dietary requirements of clients during meal preparations.

WestCare California offers a multitude of treatment programs for adults, adolescents, children, and families. The center strives to make treatment affordable and reachable to all. The approximate cost of treatment at the residential program is $2,725 for 30 days. This cost can be paid out-of-pocket if clients can afford it. Otherwise, the center accepts insurance plans of certain companies the details of which could be taken from the admissions office. For still other needy clients, there is the option of payment through donations that the center collects. WestCare Foundation raises funds and collects donations to help indigent clients and families in their process of treatment and recovery.

Richard Steinberg
Chief Executive Officer/ President

Mr. Steinberg has a BA in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach. He also has a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has extensive experience in the field of substance abuse treatment where he has served as a Clinical Specialist, Educational Therapy Assistant, and Director of a Community Treatment Program. He continues to lead WestCare to make it one of the country’s largest non-profit organizations offering treatment through a wide array of wellness programs.

Robert Neri
Chief Clinical Officer

Mr. Neri has a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Vermont College. He is a Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC) in the State of Florida. He is also a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP). His areas of expertise include designing treatment systems for substance abusers in the criminal justice systems.

Beverly Watts Davis
Chief Program Officer

Ms. Watts has over 30 years of experience in leading and managing nonprofit and public organizations. She has served on the Board of Trustees of Austin Community College and the Board of Directors of the One Star Foundation, Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Texas, and many other organizations.
