Librium is a long-lasting benzo with a half-life of 5-30 hours. It might take one up to few months to get the drug out of the system as some of its active metabolites have long half-lives, up to 200 hours. Also, factors, such as dosage, age, and metabolism rates can affect the elimination of the drug.

How can one be tested for Librium?

Drug tests can detect Librium. Hair tests can identify Librium with a long window of detection (up to three months). Urine tests can find the drug for up to 1-6 weeks. Swab tests can detect Librium for up to 1-10 days. Last but not least, blood tests are also very effective; they can detect Librium up to 6-48 hours.

How Is Librium Metabolized?

Librium pill in the hand

Librium undergoes hepatic metabolism and breaks down to many active metabolites, which have longer half-lives than the parent drug.

Some of them are desmethyl-chlordiazepoxide, demoxepam, desmethyldiazepam, and oxazepam. As mentioned above, desmethyldiazepam has a half-life of 36-200 hours, while desmethyl-chlordiazepoxide has a half-life of 10-18 hours and demoxepam – of 21-78 hours.

The drug is excreted in the urine.

Note that intramuscular injections result in slower absorption.

Librium & Drug Testing

Drug tests can detect Librium. Testing positive for benzos can result in job loss and other legal problems.

How Long Does Librium Stay In The Hair?

Hair tests can detect Librium with a long window of detection (up to three months). Remember that washing or cutting the hair can’t influence the test.

How Long Does Librium Stay In The Urine?

As the drug is excreted in the urine, urinalysis is one of the common techniques to detect Librium. Urine tests can find the drug for up to 1-6 weeks.

How Long Does Librium Stay In The Saliva?

Swab tests can also detect Librium (1-10 days), and they usually are noninvasive and quick.

How Long Does Librium Stay In The Blood?

Blood tests for Librium are used for up to 6-48 hours. Note that peak plasma concentrations are achieved 1-2 hours after intake.

The best way to pass a drug test is to stay away from Librium. However, acidic foods, staying hydrated and exercising regularly can also help to get clean.
