Woodlake Addiction Recovery Center is a modern drug and alcohol recovery facility located in Abbeville, Louisiana. This center provides several levels of care rooted in the 12-step model for men and women at various stages of addiction. Situated in a residential setting with home-like amenities and a relaxed atmosphere, their program structure follows four phases that clients progress through as they complete the program. Woodlake offers a full continuum of care and treatment services during this program.
Clients with severe addiction symptoms may be required to enter detox before receiving further treatment, although detox can also be entered voluntarily. During detox, clients stay onsite and receive 24-hour care and observation from the medical staff to ensure they are safe and comfortable through what can often be a difficult and painful process. Following detox, clients may transition to another care program within Woodlake.
Inpatient care at Woodlake provides clients with a safe and secure place to live on campus for the duration of their treatment. Under 24-hour monitoring from staff, clients’ needs are fully met, allowing them to focus their energy on their treatment program. Treatment during inpatient care revolves around individual and group therapy, 12-step programs, life skills training, and other educational opportunities. The inpatient program includes specialized care for working professionals from high-stress occupations, with this group meeting once a week.
The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a form of outpatient therapy where clients come to the facility on a regular schedule to receive highly structured care while continuing to live at home. PHP is sometimes used as a transitional step for those leaving inpatient care who are entering the intensive outpatient program (IOP) or returning to their daily lives.
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed for people entering a recovery program for the first time, those who have relapsed, or those who have completed the inpatient program. Clients in IOP continue to live at home and maintain their everyday lives while receiving the same care as the inpatient program, with an emphasis on group therapy, education, and activities.
Woodlake Addiction Recovery Center is based on the Traditions and Principles of the 12-step programs and the founding Oxford Group. The Four Absolutes – Honesty, Unselfishness, Love, and Purity, along with the guiding keys of the Beatitudes, were the basics of the Oxford Group from which AA and other 12-step programs originated. Woodlake parallels the founding Oxford absolutes, the keys or attitudes to happiness, and the guiding principles of the 12-step programs into the four phases of their treatment.
Woodlake views alcoholism and/or addiction as a manifestation of underlying issues that must be addressed for the person to recover and remain in recovery. Consequently, their treatment involves a holistic approach addressing the interrelated components of the personality, including the spiritual, mental, emotional, social, physical, and volitional or willpower aspects of the person.
Woodlake believes addiction is a chronic and progressive disease that affects the whole person: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. They also believe that chemical dependency is a family disease, as family members and significant others are affected by a loved one’s addiction. With these beliefs in mind, Woodlake educates their patients on research-based treatment, residential and outpatient care, dual diagnosis (co-occurring disorders), and provides experienced addiction treatment staff.
Woodlake Addiction Recovery Center is accredited by CARF (Accreditation Number: 264774) and holds a state license in Louisiana (License Number: 10028). This accreditation ensures that Woodlake meets high standards of care and professionalism in their treatment programs.
