Newport Academy, which is situated in Darien, Connecticut, is dedicated to the treatment of children aged 7–11 and adolescents aged 12–18 who are grappling with mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, trauma-related issues, co-occurring eating disorders, and substance use. The center provides a comprehensive outpatient program that is uniquely tailored to the unique requirements of young individuals, while also equipping them with the tools required for long-term recovery and emotional well-being.
The treatment services are partitioned into three distinct levels of care: standard outpatient services, intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), and a partial hospitalization program (PHP). These programs facilitate treatment flexibility, allowing children and adolescents to maintain their daily routines while receiving the necessary care. The center offers specialized tutoring to ensure that teens enrolled in the PHP day program maintain their educational progress while concentrating on their mental health through the Academic Advancement component. This integration of education and treatment guarantees that young individuals do not lag academically while they pursue their personal well-being.
The Academy provides a diverse selection of therapeutic modalities that are meticulously selected to facilitate the recovery process of each client. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) are among the evidence-based approaches that comprise core therapies, in addition to individual and group therapy. The center also provides Attachment-Based Family Therapy, which is designed to fortify family bonds and repair family relationships. For individuals who are experiencing trauma, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is available.
