About us
Gateway Foundation operates several locations across the country, including a facility in Lake Villa, Illinois, specializing in addiction treatment and co-occurring conditions. This facility offers a comprehensive range of programs, including residential treatment, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and sober living homes.
At the residential treatment level, patients are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The program provides a structured environment with daily activities and therapies, along with education about addiction. The duration of the inpatient program is variable, typically ranging from 30 to 90 days.
The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers patients more flexibility, allowing them to return home each night after daily treatment. This program usually runs 5 to 6 days a week and provides the necessary support for recovery.
Therapies utilized at Gateway Foundation include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), group therapy, and family therapy. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to run a few days a week, providing continued support as patients progress in their recovery journey.
For those in sober living homes, Gateway Foundation offers a structured living environment complemented by regular support meetings, helping patients maintain their recovery in a stable setting.
Gateway Foundation is accredited by The Joint Commission, reflecting its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety.

8.4
Out of 10
We understand that choosing an addiction treatment center can be overwhelming, especially with so many options, promises, and marketing messages. Thatโs why weโve developed a clear, standardized rating system designed to cut through the noise and highlight what truly matters: safety, quality of care, and transparency. Our goal is to give individuals and families the information they need to make confident, informed decisions during a critical time.
In this guide, we explain exactly how we rate treatment centersโfrom accreditation and staff credentials to therapy options, facility environment, and family involvement. Youโll see how we assign scores, award badges, and update listings to ensure accuracy and fairness. Most importantly, our system focuses on elevating centers that prioritize ethical, evidence-based care, not just those with the best marketing. This way, you can trust that the ratings you see reflect meaningful standards that help you find the right fit for lasting recovery.
