Alcoholic Anonymous is a champion for helping people from their dependence on alcohol. It is a nonprofit and non-denominational community organization. It started in 1939 and sponsors meetings and offers education, advice, spiritual support and information on local addiction and recovery resources. The AA meetings follow a 12-Step program and meetings are open to any person willing to stop drinking. Santa Monica is one of the best recovery towns in the U.S. From the early morning to late at night, there are plenty of great Santa Monica meetings. All you need to do is connect to one meeting. Pick up a meeting directory and you will manage to get access to about 20 meetings a day, seven days a week.
Some places that feature multiple meetings on any day include The Unurban Café, Joslyn Park, and 26 Street and Broadway. In addition, there are also many AA meetings in various parks, churches, a rehab, a hostel and most notably at the Against the Stream Santa Monica Buddhist Mediation Society, located at 1001 Colorado Ave. Alternatively, browse our AA meetings list to find the one nearest to you.
