Lortab Dosage: How Many Lortab Pills and Elixir Can Be Taken Daily?

Patients are taking Lortab doses as a pain-relief medication used for the treatment of moderate to severe pain. Lortab pills are made up of the merging of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. The addition of analgesic increases the effectiveness of the opioid component. Discover what is considered as safe Lortab dosage for adults and Lortab elixir pediatric dosing as well.

Lortab Dosage Forms And Strengths

It comes in two different forms – oral tablets and the elixir. Lortab Elixir and it is currently the most popular dosage form. It is a prescription drug, so it is illegal to sell or give it away. It should only be gotten from a qualified physician who has prescribed it for use.

The tablets have an oblong shape. There are the white, pink, or yellow Lortab tablets with colored specks across them. The tablets come in various dosage strengths. They are based on the quantity of the components contained in each Lortab pill.

For the liquid, Lortab dosage sizes are available in 5, 7.5, and 15 milliliters. Every 15ml consist of 10 mg dose of opioid and a 300 mg dose of analgesic.
There are other generic and brand names for other medication that contain the same Lortab ingredients.

These include Anexsia, Hycet, Xodol, Zamicet, Norco, and others. Comparisons have also been made about Lortab vs. Oxycodone. It has been shown that even though they function similarly, Oxycodone is more effective when combined with analgesic. Lortab dosage strengths vary from all these other medications, so they should not be used as replacement prescriptions.

Lortab Dosing Schedule For Adults

For the treatment of moderate and severe pain, adults can use Lortab tablets or oral elixir. For all doses, it is strongly recommended that a maximum daily limit of 4 grams of acetaminophen must not be exceeded, because one can overdose on Lortab easily.

Additionally, it is advisable to find the lowest effective dose and stick to it to keep Lortab side effects in elderly and young patients at the bare minimum. Do not increase doses unless it is necessary.

Tablets Dosing For Adults

For tablets, the following information is crucial for appropriate dosing for adults:

Lortab Dosage For Pediatric Patients

For liquid containing 7.5 mg of hydrocodone per 15 milliliters and between 325 mg to 500 mg of analgesic per 15 ml.

Lortab LD-50

Factors such as the presence of alcohol in the system or snorting the drug. These factors could also make any process of detoxification tougher than normal.
How long does Lortab stay in the system? The hydrocodone content in the drug means that the half-life of a 10 mg dose falls at about 3.8 hours, give or take 0.3 hours. This information should be kept in mind before taking the next dose.

Taking Lortab Doses Safely

Exceeding the recommended doses will lead to serious side effects, some of which can be fatal. Trying to get a Lortab high by increasing doses is also strongly disapproved of, as it can lead to addiction which could then lead to overdose.
Getting hooked on an opioid drug would require a visit to a rehabilitation center. A personalized addiction treatment program will be created for a patient there, according to the severity of their addiction.
