View Point Health Rehab Review: A Total Care Rehab

  1. View Point Health Review

The View Point Health drug rehabilitation program offers its patients solutions to the pressing issues of drug and alcohol abuse. Patients can range in age from 14 years-old to adults with advanced chemical dependency problems.

Services are provided across View Point Health’s several locations in Georgia, from Lawrenceville to Newton to Covington, with different facilities offering a variety of programs, from a crisis stabilization unit to an outpatient program and a transitional living residence.

Different Types of Care

The Charles L. Knight stabilization unit is where medically supervised detox at View Point takes place. Detox lasts for a maximum of seven days. There is also a detox unit specifically for adolescents aged 12-17, the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) which deals mostly with behavioral health emergencies but that also provides one on one counseling and medical assistance.

The GRAN Recovery residence program offers 90-day stays to men and women for substance abuse treatment and eventually if they complete the program, sober living housing that helps them transition back to normal life. Treatments at View Point Health consist of your standard fare when it comes to substance abuse therapies.

Self-help meetings, group therapy, and individual counseling are all offered to patients with a focus on learning anger management skills and relapse prevention methods. If need be, patients can also attend 12 Step meetings outside of View Point to fortify the treatment plan already in place.

The Recovery Center at View Point has spaces for up to 18 people. Men and women live in quarters divided by gender. There are typically two patients per room. Extracurricular activities are few and far between at View Point. There is a small fitness center available for use by residents but most of the space that makes up the facility is for therapy sessions or dining.

If you have appointments or treatment sessions at any of the other View Point locations, staff take you to your scheduled commitments. The transitional living residence offers much of the same. All treatments follow a specific plan that has been designed with input from the patients, their family and with clinicians on-site.

Moving On

After residents have completed the inpatient section of their treatment, they can continue to live in the sober-living facility, where they go about their lives during the day but return to the Recovery Center for additional group or individual counseling.

People typically stay for six months or longer in the transition house, and once that has finished, they can avail themselves of the outpatient services at View Point. If a patient, whether they have gone through the inpatient track or not, wishes to receive outpatient services, they are assessed to find out what kind of treatments would best help them.

Treatments in the outpatient facility put a lot of emphasis onto managing personal relationships, emotional stability, and handling stresses healthily and constructively.

Before exiting the program entirely, residents are asked to help design their aftercare plan with their counselors and also with input from family members to help coordinate the best possible ways to prevent relapses and to keep you sober.

The Clubhouse is View Point’s adolescent outpatient center, where teens can go, whether voluntarily or by being referred by the juvenile court, Child Protective Services or their school, to receive substance abuse treatments like cognitive behavioral therapy and individual counseling. Families are heavily involved in creating treatment plans for their teen as well as participating in family counseling sections.

A New Point of View

The View Point Health addictive diseases program does not go out of its way to offer anything more than your standard substance abuse treatments. 12 Step meetings, group counseling, behavioral therapies and residential programs make up the bulk of their treatment model, but if something run of the mill is what you are looking for, then you might be helped to find out more.
