Located in Vermont, Valley Vista is a substance abuse treatment facility that provides care to men, women, and teenagers struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. The center’s core values are unity, bias-free treatment, respect, and anonymity.
Valley Vista: Treatments, Programs, and Staff
Treatment program at the Valley Vista is separated into three different modalities—men’s, women’s, and treatment for teenagers.
Before admission to residential treatment, clients undergo a thorough evaluation. Detox services are available on-site and include monitoring of vital signs and administration of medications in order to ease withdrawal symptoms.
All three treatment options consist of individual counseling, group therapy, comprehensive and individualized care programming, family therapy, recovery-focused groups, 12-step meetings, insight to spirituality, medical services, and aftercare planning.
Patients enrolled in women’s program can use OBGYN services. Pregnant women are also welcome at the facility. Case managers work together with female clients to discover underlying issues that have led to addiction. The primary goal is to build self-esteem and foster skills necessary to cope with everyday challenges without drugs.
Men’s program is built around 12-step philosophy, psychoeducation, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
When it comes to teenagers with substance abuse problems, they can continue their education on-site. Once the treatment is completed, Valley Vista supervises re-entry into client’s old school.
Unfortunately, due to financial issues, family programming services are no longer available.
Facilities and Extras
The center has the capacity to accommodate 28 adult clients and 16 teenagers. Dormitory-style rooms are shared by up to four residents. Meeting rooms are located at the end of the hall.

Unfortunately, there is no gym on-site, but a small workout room is available for recreational activities. All three treatment programs offer yoga and meditation classes, while women’s program includes art therapy, creative writing, and therapy dog services.
