St. Gregory Retreat Centers: Treatments, Programs, and Staff

Treatment program in St. Gregory Retreat Center is focused on four major aspects of life:

  •         Biological
  •         Psychological
  •         Social
  •         Spiritual

Within the biological recovery, clients are encouraged to exercise by using the gym and attending seminars and classes about health. Also, the center emphasizes the importance of healthy eating g and taking supplements, as well as maintaining good sleeping schedule.

The psychological aspect of recovery includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, brain fitness, individualized treatment planning, and predicting outcomes.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy is focused on discovering maladaptive patterns of behavior and irrational thinking, and replacing them with new ones that are more functional. Brain fitness helps clients strengthen emotional and cognitive skills, while the individualized treatment plan is designed to address every personal need of a patient and achieve their individual goals.

St. Gregory Retreat Center is the only rehab facility in the United States that uses integrated predictive outcomes. That means that clients are evaluated on a weekly basis, and according to that, the new goals are being set.

The social aspect of the recovery includes community reinforcement, family program, diverse range of activities, and volunteering.

Community reinforcement is conducted through group therapy. The focus is not on past failures but to positive thinking. Activities in the center include outings and excursions in order to avoid boredom which is one of the main relapse triggers. Volunteering activities such as visiting a nursing home, planting in the garden, or painting a house serve to break the cycle of selfish behavior. Family therapy is focused on rebuilding broken trust and relationships through therapy sessions and regular family visitations.

The spiritual aspect emphasizes the importance of virtue, reflection, spiritual direction, and attendance at chapel service.

Virtue is a significant part of the treatment. Every morning one seminar is focused on this concept. Also, evening reflections and meditations are especially encouraged. Spiritual direction is optional, but it is shown to be beneficial for struggling addict just as attending chapel services.

After the inpatient treatment is completed, the client can enroll in the one-year aftercare program. During this period alumni can return to the center for seven weeks by reduced cost.

The staff of the center includes nurses, physicians, nutritionists, chefs, and life coaches.
