Overview of The Ringer Center

The Ringer Center was founded in 1996 as the Marguerite Burke Ringer Mental Health Center. The facility offers outpatient services to adults suffering from substance abuse, alcohol addiction, and behavioral health disorders such as depression, anxiety, stress, and family problems. The center also specializes in offering its services to adolescents and children over the age of 5. The primary treatment program at the Ringer Center is based on the 12-step principles which focus on treating the mind, body, and spirit of the individual. The center offers detoxification, assessments, counseling, outpatient, and intensive outpatient programs (IOP). The Ringer Center also offers couples therapy and marriage counseling to couples who are having a difficult time in their marital lives. The children’s program primarily deals with cases of ADHD whereas the Teens Program helps troubled teens with issues related to psychological health and substance abuse. The staff at the Ringer Center comprise of master level clinicians and licensed substance abuse counselors. Some clinicians are in recovery themselves so they are better able to bond with the patients and guide them through their own experience. Through the combined efforts of clients, families, staff, therapies, and treatment modalities the clients are able to achieve sustained recovery.

Housing and Food at The Ringer Center

The Ringer Center is located in the city of Greensboro, North Carolina. The facility is basically made up of buildings that house the different treatment programs. Since there is no residential program offered at the Ringer Center, there are no lodging facilities for clients. The buildings are built in modern architecture with simple and elegant interiors. The Admissions Office and front desk provide a welcoming atmosphere to prospective clients and families. The other rooms in the buildings include counseling rooms, meeting rooms, therapies, and sessions rooms. Clients take part in different meetings and counseling sessions as outlined in their treatment plans. IOP group sessions are carried out thrice a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Family group sessions are carried out each Thursday. The facility is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Clients are offered meals three times a day on three days when the facility is open from 9 am to 9 pm. For the other two days when the facility closes at 6 pm, two meals are provided. Meals are prepared by the in-house kitchen staff and served in the cafeteria. All clients eat together in the dining area provided in the cafeteria. Clients can also consume snacks and beverages through the vending machines available at the facility.

Payment Options at The Ringer Center

The Ringer Center offers a number of outpatient treatment programs for adults, adolescents, children, families, and couples for alcohol and substance abuse as well as some mental health disorders. The cost is $125 for assessment, $75 for a psychiatric appointment, and $600 for group counseling of 30 days in the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The Ringer Center works with many in-network and out-of-network insurance companies to make the cost of treatment affordable for clients. The center also accepts Medicare and Medicaid. Clinical Director and Primary Therapist

Stephen Ringer serves as the Clinical Director and Primary Therapist at the Ringer Center. His responsibilities at the center mainly include initial assessments and assignment of appropriate therapist and level of care to a patient. He also holds individual and group counseling sessions for alcohol and substance abuse, depression, and anxiety. He conducts DWI and DMV assessments along with marriage counseling.

Valerie Phillips LMFT, LPC
Counselor

Valerie specializes in treating psychiatric issues of children aged 5 and above. She conducts individual, couple, and family therapy sessions. Her areas of expertise include family issues such as parenting, marriage, life transitions, elder care, separation, and divorce. She had an EMDR certification for Trauma Treatment. She also uses Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skill training which includes mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal effective in the treatment of patients.

Melissa Mekita, LPC, LCAS-R
Primary Adults and Adolescent Teens

Melissa deals with adults and teens while providing services at the Ringer Center. Her areas of expertise include mood disorders (depression and anxiety), post-traumatic stress disorder grief, life transitions, trauma and abuse issues, substance abuse, and codependency issues.
