One dorm-style room is generally shared by two residents while three men can be accommodated in a room in some cases. All rooms are well-furnished with things like dressers, closets, upholstered chairs, and full-sized beds. Each and every room is beautifully decorated along with being quite spacious.
On the other hand, there are communal bathrooms that come with a shower and two stalls. However, women’s residential area is smaller as compared to the men’s dormitory. There is just a single large bathroom for women, which is shared by 11 residents, while the men’s residential unit has three bathrooms. There are several picnic tables and sitting areas where residents can complete their assignments, meditate, or socialize. Residents can even enjoy movie nights or watch sporting events at the facility’s TV room.
In terms of food, meals are served separately to both men and women in the large dining area. The healthy and fresh meals are prepared daily by the kitchen staff and served in a cafeteria style. There are even options for home-style meals for dinner and lunch along with a salad bar.

Clinical Program Director
Melody McKee serves the team of Olalla Recovery Center as Clinical Program Director from the past three years. Before that, she used to work at NWITC/Squaxin Island Tribe as Counselor/Grant-Funded Projects Coordinator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and a master’s degree in Licensed Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University.
Buddy Bassett is Inpatient Counselor at Olalla Recovery Center from April 2017. He received his bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Washington Tacoma. He holds a certificate in Human Services and Chemical Dependency from Olympic College. Before joining the team of Olalla Recovery Center, he worked as Lead Vocational Navigator and Case Manager at West Sound Treatment Center.
Director of Outpatient Services
Derek Murphy joined the Olalla Recovery Center team in June 2017. He has far-reaching experience in the fields of law enforcement and addiction. He is an ex-law enforcement officer. He holds a degree in Counseling/Psychology from Johnson State College. Derek is also a member of the Pierce County Opioid Task Force and certified substance abuse professional.
