Freedom Institute is an outpatient addiction treatment and recovery center for adolescents, teens, adults, and families. It provides services for substance abuse, behavioral disorders, and mental health disorders. The mission at the Freedom Institute is to help patients recover freedom and reclaim lives. Every patient goes through an extensive addiction assessment interview after which a personalized treatment plan is created for them and their families. The treatment plan is based on the unique needs and situation of every individual and it comprises of the appropriate course of action and therapies involved in the program. The institute also offers referral services for adults, teens, and families. Housing and Food at Freedom Institute
Freedom Institute is located in the heart of midtown Manhattan, New York. Its location is quite convenient and accessible through subway trains. It provides outpatient services and counseling sessions to individuals suffering from substance abuse, dual-diagnosis disorders, and other behavioral health disorders. Since it does not have a residential treatment program, there are no living and lodging facilities for clients. The building is divided into various units and programs for adolescents, teens, adults, and families. There are common rooms where clients can relax when not participating in any activity. The common rooms are comfortably furnished to provide a tranquil and peaceful environment to patients and families. There are various therapy rooms in the building which are equipped according to the therapy/counseling sessions carried out in them. Patients are offered meals three times a day depending on the time they spend at the facility. Food is prepared by the in-house kitchen staff and served in the cafeteria. The Institute tries to provide healthy and nutritious foods through a number of different options. There are vending machines in the building as well from where clients can get snacks and beverages any time of the day.

The Freedom Institute offers supervised outpatient addiction treatment services to adolescents, adults, and families. Each individual is assigned a personalized treatment plan based on which the cost of treatment is calculated. The Institute tries to make the treatment affordable for as many people as possible. They collect donations and raise funds for scholarships which consequently help in providing treatment services, counseling, and education to clients and families who are needy. Paying out of pocket is also an option for those who can afford it. The admissions office helps clients and families in deciding upon the best and affordable financial option.

Alex Dayton joined Freedom Institute in 2016 as the Associate Clinical Director. He was appointed the Clinical Director in 2018. His responsibilities at the Institute include managing the operations and development of the clinical program. He also serves as a Clinician on the DBT consultation team. He has extensive experience working with adults, children, and adolescents with chronic mental illnesses and addiction issues.
Anne is a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor with special credentials in treating the addiction of gambling. She has over 20 years of experience working with adults and adolescents suffering from addiction. Her areas of expertise include Group Psychotherapy, Psychodrama, and therapies such as Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and DBT skills.
Adult Therapist, Intervention Specialist
Barbara has a Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University. She has a vast experience working in the mental health field. She specializes in fostering the psychological well-being of children, adolescents, and adults. Her responsibilities at the Freedom Institute comprise working together with adults and their families for intervention.
