CeDAR Overview

CeDAR stands for Center for Dependency, Addiction, and Rehabilitation and it is a division of University of Colorado Health (UCHealth). The center was founded in 2005 and over the course of 13 years it has become one of the best substance abuse and co-occurring mental health providers in the region. CeDAR treats addiction through the use of a chronic care model and it provides levels of care that can last up to two years.
Due to the fact, CeDAR is integrated into the University of Colorado Hospital it is able to implement and continually advance highly specialized and multidisciplinary treatment approaches. Both residential and outpatient services are provided by CeDAR.

CeDAR Housing

Men and women are housed separately during their time in residential treatment. They are housed in 20-bed buildings called Cottage A and Cottage B. Both buildings are equally equipped. Two patients share a room. Each room has a private bath, two beds, two nightstands, two closets, and two desks. Rooms are comfortable, warm, and welcoming. Each cottage is staffed 24 hours a day due to safety, guidance, and security of each patient.
Even counselors’ offices are in cottages thus making it easier for clients to consult their designated counselors. CeDAR also has a fitness center, spiritual center, dining hall. During the transition from 30-day intensive residential treatment patients are housed in Colonel’s Row for 60 to 120 days. This particular facility can accommodate up to 14 patients.

CeDAR Treatment Options

CeDar focuses on substance abuse and related co-occurring mental health disorders. As part of the University of Colorado Hospital, they also specialize in co-occurring medical conditions related to drug and alcohol use. Just like housing, treatment is also gender-separated i.e. there is a different team that treats patients in men’s and women’s program.

  • Outpatient addiction treatment – created for those who are transitioning from residential treatment, but also suitable for other people who need ongoing support to achieve long-term recovery.
