Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services Overview
Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services, located in the small town of Trumansburg, New York, a little over an hour northwest of Binghamton, is a residential treatment facility for persons dealing with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues. The residential center is a part of the Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services (CARS) program which began in 1972 and was reopened in September of 2004 as a multi-million dollar intensive residential treatment center after it was burnt down in 2003. The facility’s residential treatment program provides personalized and evidence-based practices and adapted a treatment model called The Matrix Model in 2006. The organization has two other facilities in locations at Trumansburg and Ithaca offering outpatient rehab, outpatient treatment, and intensive residential treatment services. The center offers various models of treatment including counseling services, Solution-Based Therapy, crisis intervention, and the 12-step program. The facility does not offer detoxification services of any type of, but residents receive weekly check-up visits from an affiliated MD who works in a local hospital. Medication-Assisted Treatment such as Suboxone and Naltrexone is made available to the clients if necessary.
Accommodation & Food
The center is a co-ed facility capable of accommodating up to 60 persons at a time. The residential units are separated by gender and clients are accommodated in semi-private rooms with four clients sharing a room. The rooms have an institutional feel and are furnished with twin-sized beds and feature curtains and plants.
Meals served thrice daily, are simple and served cafeteria-style.

Patients are taught how to practice coping skills, manage their cravings, and build social and behavioral functioning. The treatment services utilize the evidence-based Matrix Model and offer a weekend family program which consists of joint therapy sessions.

These extracurricular activities are bundled with the price so clients don’t have to pay extra.
Amenities such as an exercise room complete with a weights station, as well as a large campus with ample space for clients to exercise and walk around during downtime. Before bed, clients are allowed to use the six televisions available at the facility during their free time.
