Lindner Center of HOPE Review

The true genesis of addiction and mental health illnesses is something that has bedeviled researchers for a long time. The Lindner Center of HOPE is a treatment center that not only treats such issues, but because of their affiliation with the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine, also hopes to uncover the root causes of co-occurring disorders, also known as dual diagnoses.

The Lindner Center of HOPE goes beyond being a typical drug rehabilitation center since it applies innovative diagnostic testing to better understand your affliction while you are in either the acute inpatient program or the short-term residential program.

However, patients entering Lindner’s hospitalization programs or making use of its outpatient services can also expect to receive comprehensive, top-of-the-line care. Getting to the bottom of what is hampering your well-being is the chief goal at Lindner.

A Journey of HOPE

Any illness has to be understood before it can be treated. The Lindner Center employs rigorous diagnostic testing to fully comprehend what is happening so that every step taken afterward is the correct one. Thorough and scientifically-based assessments are made for both adults staying in the Sibcy House inpatient program and for adolescents treated at the Williams House inpatient program.

The initial diagnostic phase lasts for 10-days (14-days for teens) which is a marked difference between Lindner and other treatment programs, whose assessment phases are relatively shorter. This is also the reason why many people go to Lindner for treatment after having been unsuccessfully treated elsewhere. Clinicians, counselors, dietitians and even a spiritual counselor are all involved not only during the diagnostic phase but in administering treatment as well.

Once a comprehensive diagnosis has been made by Lindner staff, treatment options are laid out on the table based on what has been learned about the patient’s history of illness. Most, if not all, treatments are evidence-based with few modalities between them. Treatments available include dialectical behavioral therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy both of which help address disorders like suicidal thoughts and addictive behaviors.

More serious mental health illnesses might require more intense treatments like TMS (or transcranial magnetic stimulation) therapy or even electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) – better known as electroshock therapy – which is used for treatment of disorders like schizophrenia and severe depressive illness. These treatments are used only in the most serious cases and Lindner uses them when all other options have failed.

HOPE Everlasting

Lindner’s cottage-like location outside of Cincinnati has 48 spaces available for those needing urgent and continued care for mental health illnesses and a variety of other behavioral health problems. The wings of the treatment center are divided into the adolescent section and adults or seniors section.

There is ample greenery surrounding the center, with a bevy of services provided in the center itself which includes a cafeteria, fitness facilities and even a faith center. The goal of the acute inpatient program is to medically assuage a person’s illness until they are ready to receive treatment in a less intense, outpatient program.

Lindner features other partial hospitalization programs as well, both for adults and for adolescents. If a patient falls somewhere in between the spectrum of needing less than what inpatient treatments can provide and more than what outpatient treatment can give, then Lindner has services to help treat disorders such as depression, substance abuse and eating disorders. Medically assisted treatments, group counseling, and psychiatric care are all part of the PHP program at Lindner.

Its HOPE Center North location addresses a variety of chemical dependency issues through medically assisted therapies, group therapies and one-on-one counseling through an outpatient delivery method.

One Last Chance

Only when everything else has failed, then the Lindner Center of HOPE offers exactly what it emphasizes in its title. All kinds of disorders fall under Lindner’s treatment portfolio, from severe depression, to chemical dependency to severe mental illness with treatment options ranging from counseling to ECT therapy. Lindner has the backing of some of the most dedicated and professional clinicians in the Midwest, who have years of experiencing treating a wide variety of disorders.

It has a decidedly medical approach to helping people, so if you are enrolled in the inpatient residential program expect to undergo an array of diagnostic tests to help calibrate your treatment to your specific needs. Detox facilities and 12 Step meeting are markedly absent at Lindner but they make up for it by providing state-of-the-science care that is second to none.
