John Brooks Recovery Center is rehab facility founded by John Brooks, a former addict, back in 1969. The center is located in Atlantic City in four different locations, and it provides inpatient, outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment services for both women and men.

Residents are placed in gender-specific buildings. The male facility has the capacity to accommodate 82 men, while female building provides a temporary home for 29 women.

Well-equipped rooms are shared by two clients. In the common area, patients can gather and watch TV. Also, buildings have workout rooms, therapy rooms, and dining halls.

Meals are served cafeteria-style, and different diet needs can be accommodated. Coffee and snacks are also provided.

John Brooks Recovery Center: Treatments, Programs, and Staff

John Brooks Recovery Center provides residential treatment, outpatient and intensive outpatient program, women’s day program, and Atlantic County jail re-entry project.

Inpatient program includes individual counseling, group therapy, educational sessions, recreational activities, psychiatric and medical services. Some of the subjects addressed during educational sessions are:

The program includes case management, on-site babysitting, weekly individual counseling, and group sessions.

Atlantic County jail re-entry project was created to prevent relapse amongst inmates by providing the appropriate treatment.

ROW is a unique program that helps addicts in the Atlantic City neighborhoods get their Methadone therapy. The program is often referred as recovery on wheels because staff uses a specially equipped bus for this purpose.

Rules and Regulations in John Brooks Recovery Center

Smoking is permitted only in designated areas outside of the building.

A client is considered ineligible for admission if:

  •         he or she is a sex offender,
  •         is an arsonist,
  •         is committed unprovoked assault in the last 18 months,
  •         if a client has a medical condition that can not be treated at the center,
  •         is not able to walk up and down the stairs,
  •         a patient is considered dangerous to themselves or other people around them.

Additionally, cell phones and toiletries that contain alcohol are strongly forbidden, as well as credit cards, stuffed animals or pillows, and printed material with explicit content.
