Hampton Behavioral Health Center is South Jersey’s only full continuum private psychiatric facility, operating in Westampton Township, Burlington County. The center is renowned for its excellence in diagnosis, treatment, and education, as these concepts make the core of Hampton’s mission. Hampton Behavioral Health Center provides the most advanced behavioral healthcare services that effectively and efficiently address the needs of adolescents, adults, and seniors.

Hampton Behavioral Health Center: Treatments, Programs, and Staff

Hampton Behavioral Health Center bases its services and programs on the age of patients. As such, the center offers both inpatient and outpatient levels of care for adolescents, adults, and seniors suffering from acute mental health and substance abuse issues. The programs include:

Adolescent inpatient program

Through this program the center addresses both medical and environmental factors of addiction among teens and help them develop useful coping techniques. Through individual, group, and creative therapies, adolescents learn communication skills, wise judgment, self-discovery, consequence understanding, and constructive alternatives. Hampton includes an educational component in its program for adolescents so that patients can continue with their education while in treatment. The program treats teenagers between 12 and 17 years old.

Dual diagnosis inpatient program

While regular adult inpatient program treats only patients with behavioral health problems, Hampton’s dual diagnosis services address both psychiatric disorders and co-occurring chemical dependency problems. The center provides psychotherapy, including individual, group and family therapy to patients, and all of them participate in 12-step meetings, whether Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous. The program includes detoxification, while the staff utilizes a holistic approach in treating the patients.

Older adult inpatient program

To seniors struggling with mental health issues and substance abuse disorders, Hampton offers medical and psychiatric evaluations, medication and behavioral management, family counseling, and specially structured group therapies. In addition to 12-step meetings, the center provides creative treatments, pet therapy, and yoga.

Outpatient counseling

For patients who are not requiring an inpatient setting, Hampton Behavioral Health Center offers partial hospitalization programs and intensive outpatient program. Through these services, Hampton addresses patients who need a short-term treatment option, whether they finished with inpatient treatment or need an alternative to it.

When it comes to the staff, Hampton’s multidisciplinary team consists of psychiatrists, advanced practice nurses, licensed therapists, mental health professionals, clinicians specializing in treating dually diagnosed patients, licensed social workers, alcohol and drug counselors, registered dietitians, and registered nurses.

Facilities and Extras

In its main campus, Westampton, the center offers both inpatient and outpatient services, while outpatient services are provided in its satellite offices in Hamilton and Cherry Hill. The main campus is in Westampton Township, Burlington County. It spreads on 23 acres and has 110 beds for patients in inpatient programs.

The facility has four separate units for adolescents, adults, older adults, and dually diagnosed patients, while each of the four features semi-private bedrooms with bathrooms. The full-service cafeteria offers meals to meet diverse dietary needs of clients, including kosher and vegetarian options.

In addition to regular programs, the center offers the military program, electroconvulsive therapy, and Hampton Academy – a private day school that provide education to students in grades one through twelve who are in the treatment.

Rules and Regulations

The center admits patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To provide the best possible care, not only that Hampton accepts all major insurances including Medicare, but it also works with unions and worker’s compensation to obtain authorizations for treatments so that clients can receive a proper health care and sober up.

Rules apply not only to patients but to visitors too. Staff checks all items before visitors hand them to patients. All four units prohibit sharp and flammable objects. Additionally, the adult and dual sections ban outside food and beverages, while the adolescent and older adult units allow small quantities of food.

By treating its patients from their youngest age when their vulnerability encounters addiction, to their senior age when they might see no exit out of it, Hampton Behavioral Health Center excels in being, as its motto says, a place “where brighter, healthier future begins.”
