Canvas Health is an addiction treatment center founded 1969. Today, it is the largest private provider of substance abuse recovery services in Minnesota. The center is located at ten different facilities across Minneapolis and St. Paul and offers outpatient treatment for both adults and adolescents dealing with substance abuse problems. The treatment program is based on the traditional 12-step approach and evidence-based practices.

Canvas Health: Treatments, Programs, and Staff

Canvas Health offers adult and adolescent programs, as well as family services and sober living.

New Choices for Recovery is a program designed for men and women to help them change their thinking and behavior patterns and to re-build relationships with their loved ones and the community. It includes treatment modalities such as cognitive therapy, motivational interviewing, and the 12-step meetings. The program also addresses the issue of co-occurring disorders.

Adolescent Community Options Program is a long-term outpatient program for adolescents from 13 to 18 years old who are at high risk of out-of-home placement because of their substance abuse. Some of the teenagers have a history of drug-related crimes and other legal issues. The primary goal of this program is to keep the children in their communities through group therapy, case management, individual, and family counseling.

New Choices for Adolescents is designed for teenagers who are already in the East Central Regional Juvenile Center in Lino Lakes. The program uses a cognitive approach to prepare adolescents to get back to their communities.

Canvas Health: Facilities and Extras

Family programming includes family therapy in 5 sessions during which the counselor addresses the issues of possible co-occurring disorders, communication, family values, resources, and cognitive therapy.

Sober housing (SHARE) provides a home for homeless people dealing with addiction problems and single parents with children. The main goal is to help a recovering addict become a contributing member of the society.
