Buffalo Valley, Inc. Rehab Review — The Freedom of Sobriety

  1. Buffalo Valley, Inc Review

Buffalo Valley, Inc. (BVI) was organized in 1979, as a community-based alcohol and substance abuse rehabilitation center. Their services have expanded to provide supportive services and housing in a continuum of care for low-income, disabled and homeless residents in their area. BVI has five locations across the state of Tennessee: Castalian Springs, Nashville, Lewisburg, and two in Hohenwald.

BVI views alcohol and drug addiction as a chronic and progressive disease. They promote the treatment of substance abuse and co-occurring disorders in a unified manner with a focus on both the addiction and the mental health conditions equally.

Buffalo Valley, Inc. Treatment, Programs, and Staff

What is Buffalo Valley, Inc. Philosophy?

BVI understands that chemical dependency results from several causative factors, including those which are psychological, physiological, spiritual, and social in nature; therefore, their treatment strategies address the unique needs of each person seeking help. BVI assessments identify the presence of conditions contributing to substance abuse and how changes in these circumstances may provide a positive treatment outcome.

BVI provides the following Programs for alcohol and substance abuse:

  • Medical detox
  • Residential recovery
  • Outpatient and e-therapy
  • Partial hospitalization
  • Veterans transitional living

Medically Supervised Detox

The medical detoxification services at BVI are designed to assess, observe, and aid clients through a safe withdrawal process from alcohol, drugs, or polydrug use. Admission may occur 24/7 and the detox period may last up to 5 days.

What is Buffalo Valley’s Residential Rehab Program?

Buffalo Valley’s Alcohol and Drug Recovery Program is a residential program that is designed to treat chronic substance abuse. Participants are required to attend both individual and group counseling sessions. Because sobriety is a lifelong commitment, upon completion of the residential program, BVI provides transitional housing and a network of community support, such as Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous.

What is a Co-occurring Treatment Program?

Mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, are commonly associated with addiction. As a licensed dual-diagnosis facility, BVI can help. The program is structured with an integrative approach to educating patients as to why they are likely to choose certain substances to abuse as well as how the chemicals interact with their psychiatric disorder.

Partial Hospitalization

Partial hospitalization focuses on a holistic support for clients with substance abuse and mental illness. In this program, the client lives in their home and commutes to the treatment center up to 7 days out of the week.

Intensive Outpatient Program

When clients cannot afford to leave their job or family BVI will offer an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The sessions are typically for 3 hours at a time with at least three a week. More can be scheduled as needed to provide a lasting recovery.

IOP Sessions include:

  • Group Sessions
  • Family Education
  • Individual Therapy
  • 12-step meetings

E-Therapy

E-Therapy is a type of outpatient treatment that uses electronic media to provide participants services in different locations. These services include pre-screening, evaluation, treatment, and aftercare. Clients may find this convenient because they can contact their counselor from their home or office anytime.

Veterans Affairs Transitional Housing

Veterans Affairs (VA) Transitional Housing is a branch of Buffalo Valley that targets eligible veterans. Qualification includes chemical dependency, alcohol addiction, homeless, or unable to find a job. The program finds housing and services if the client commits to their Support Program.
